SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State sophomore outside hitter Jaycee Fixsen will miss the upcoming 2023 volleyball season as she continues to recover from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Statement from Fixsen:
“Many of you know the story of my Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis, treatment, and remission last year. What many of you don’t know is that the cancer returned to my body earlier this year, and I have spent the spring and summer going through treatments and defeating it once again. However, unlike last year, I will not be able to return to the court this season. I plan on being on the sideline this year, cheering on and supporting my teammates any way I can, and can’t wait to be full strength again for the 2024 season. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support. I look forward to sharing more of my story when the time is right.”
Statement from MSU head coach Steven McRoberts:
“Jaycee’s attitude has been incredibly positive over the past two years, and she has truly inspired all her teammates and coaches with the way she has attacked her cancer treatments head-on. I’m so grateful that the treatments have gone well. Many of our prayers have been answered. Jaycee’s health and well-being is our number one priority, and we are all excited that she will be with us this fall as she begins her journey back to the court.”
