Golden City has won 24 matches in back-to-back seasons. The Eagles are looking to continue that successful run this season with two all-conference players returning along with two other starters.
Kylee Scott and Reese Moore are the returning all-conference players. Scott earned second-team all-conference honors after she put down 219 kills as a junior. She will be the team captain and hitting on the strong side. Moore was an honorable mention all-conference selection. She was a libero last season and will move to setter this season.
Tyra Menadue (outside hitter) and Elizabeth Renfro (middle hitter) are the other two returning starters for Golden City.
Senior Alyssa Burris returns to the varsity lineup after taking a couple years off. Junior Jade Pennington will step up to varsity as a weak side hitter. Freshman Emma Henderson will be playing back row and serve as the team’s second setter.

“Strengths of our team are experience and passing. We aren’t very tall, but the girls move well and work well together. Improving our hitting and positivity on the court will be big keys to our season. It’s a great group of girls, I expect them to continue the success,” Golden City head coach Jeremy Scott said.
Golden City opens the season on Aug. 26 at the Verona Invitational.
“We are coming off of a very successful three-year run where the girls have won 70 games over that time. We have lost a lot of leadership in the last couple of years and replacing that and continuing to expect to compete for a conference championship is the key to our season,” Scott said. “Our expectations remain the same. We have won the conference the last two years, and we expect to compete for the conference championship every year. A 20-plus win campaign is a team goal every year also.”
