SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield Public Schools and the Missouri State High School Athletics Association filed another appeal regarding the eligibility of a Glendale High School football player.

All-Ozark Conference quarterback Kylan Mabins sued the district this summer. SPS and MSHSAA- said he was not eligible to play when transferring from Kickapoo to Glendale. In September, a judge ruled in favor of Mabins, saying he could play. The Missouri Southern District Court of Appeals ruled against an appeal by the district and MSHSAA this week.

MSHSAA contends if Mabins is allowed to continue to play, it would give his new team a competitive edge. They fear other schools could contest the games Mabins has played this season, disrupting the season. Mabins has played in three games this season for Glendale.

Glendale travels to in-city rival Kickapoo Friday night.
