Day 1 State Golf Roundup

The first round of the four state golf tournaments have wrapped up. The area has the individual leader in three of the classes with a second-place showing in the fourth class.

CLASS 4

Glendale’s duo of Audrey Duvall and Page Bowman are off to strong starts in Class 4. Duvall sits tied atop the Class 4 standings with a round one total of 74. She is tied with Eureka’s Emma Parker and St. Joseph Central’s Ali Perry for the top spot.

Bowman sits one shot back tied for fourth at 75. She shares the fourth spot with four other golfers.

In total, eight different golfers are within a stroke of the lead in Class 4 after one day.

Ozark’s Josey Roberts shot a 79 and is tied for 13th. Catholic’s Grace Tiedemann (81 – 18th), Kickapoo’s Sarah Trotman (82 – 20th) and Carthage’s Shay Gaddis (82- 25th) round out the area players in the Top 25 of Class 4.

Catholic was the area’s lone team qualifier and is tied for seventh with 369 after one day.

CLASS 3

Nevada’s Emree Cameron had the round of the day for any class shooting a five-under, 67 to lead Class 3 by one stroke after the first day of competition. Cameron posted eight total birdies on the day with four coming on each the front and back nine.

Two-time defending state champion Marlene Edgeman from Marshfield is sixth after one round. She is seven strokes back of Cameron after shooting a first day 74.

Bolivar’s Delaney Daniels finds herself in the top 10 sitting tied for eighth with a 77. Willard’s Kylee Hopper is the final remaining area golfer in the top 20 tied for 11th with a 78.

Rolla’s Alyssa Joyce, Central’s Hampton Richards and Camdenton’s Sydney Righter all shot matching 81s to finish tied for 21st.

Rolla (376) and Branson (384) are seventh and eighth in the team standings.

CLASS 2

New Covenant’s Savannah Thessing’s bid to cap her career with a third individual state title is off to a good start. The senior is tied for second with an 81, which is two strokes back of Osage’s Hanna Maschhoff’s leading 79.

Cassville’s Avery Chappell and Mountain Grove’s Lauren Mallow are also lurking in the individual competition. Chappell shot an 85 which is good for sixth after one day. Mallow is one stroke back in seventh place.

Mt. Vernon’s Kennadi Killingsworth (92 – 13th), Monett’s Katie Geiss (93 – 15th), New Covenant’s Kiersten Cruse (94 – 17th), Mt. Vernon’s Madison Phillips (94 – 17th) and Rogersville’s Emma Spurlin (94 – 17th) gives the area eight of the top 20 individuals in Class 2.

Mt. Vernon is the top area team in fifth place with a 388. Cassville is sixth with a 433.

CLASS 1

Liberty’s Kameryn Wood is alone atop the Class 1 leaderboard after a first-day 85. She is one stroke head of South Harrison’s Abrielle Owens.

Ash Grove’s Rylee Allred is in the mix near the top of the individual standings in third place after an opening round 88.

Stockton’s Vanessa Nail (96) is in 10th place and Seymour’s Gentry Denney (99) is in 15th place.

Sparta is the area’s lone team representative in seventh place (462) after the first day.
