KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri State men’s soccer returned to the top 10 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Bears come in at No. 10 in the weekly top 25 poll.
This marks the seventh time in program history that Missouri State has cracked the top 10. The Bears most recently earned the distinction when they were ranked No. 9 for three straight weeks up until last week’s poll which placed them at No. 16.
The six-point jump comes after Missouri State’s 2-1 win over Omaha last Wednesday at Betty & Bobby Allison Stadium. Senior forwards Jon Koka and Jesus Barea scored the two goals to lead the Bears to their seventh win of the season.
Missouri State (7-1-3, 3-0-1 MVC) has two games this week as the regular season begins to wrap up. The Bears will be on the road tomorrow and face Evansville (3-7-3, 1-3-1 MVC) at 6:00 p.m. Then they host the Western Michigan Broncos (9-1-3, 3-0-1 MVC) on Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bears and Broncos are currently tied atop the Missouri Valley Conference standings with both teams having four regular season games remaining. Western Michigan has received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll at times this season and is ranked No. 8 in the West Region Poll.
