Glendale’s depth was unmatched at the Southwest Missouri Swimming Championships on Saturday. The Falcons won just two of 11 swimming events but dominated the team competition with 541 points on the way the championship. Kickapoo was runner-up with 371.
The Falcons won the first event of the swimming finals with a 1:39.16 in the 200-yard medley relay. Sawyer Andrews brought home Glendale’s only other gold in the pool winning the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 53.93.

Kickapoo’s Bryce Ruder (200-yard freestyle, 1:45.56 and 500-yard freestyle, 4:48.20) along with Camdenton’s Ethan Vance (50-yard freestyle, 20.46 and 100-yard freestyle, 45.92) were the only swimmers to win multiple individual old medals.
Kickapoo won both the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays to tally four gold medals in the pool.
Central finished third in the team standings with 351 points led by Jonas Tetlow and Brayden Miao. Tetlow won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.97. Miao was the 100-yard breaststroke champion in a time of 59.82.
Joplin’s Nathan Wardlow wrapped up the individual champions winning the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:00.17.
