SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Caleb Lepant had to make the decision between two sports.

“Once I started getting older it was between baseball and soccer,” said the Ozark senior. “I chose soccer just because it was my favorite.”

“I second that decision,” said Head Ozark Soccer Coach Zack Owens. “I agree with that decision. You can see the love and passion he has for the sport. I know that he wants to continue it at the next level and everything and honestly, the sky is the limit for him.”

A decision that led him to hoisting the district trophy.

With the Tigers down 1-zip in the district championship, his two goals propelled the team to a 3-1 victory over Nixa. It also propelled his Ozark’s single season goals record to 39.

“It’s pretty fun to know your name is in the record books,” Caleb said. “It’s not something that I am thinking about while playing, it’s something fun to think about after the game.”

And he is having fun with teammates he considers brothers.

“To get an extra game, to get more practice, just hang around these boys…I mean this is some of our last games together,” Caleb said.

In a season he never wants to end.

“This season in whole has been special,” Caleb said. “We’ve only lost twice and those two losses we’ve had they were kind of last second. One was a pinch shootout and one was with three seconds left on the clock.”

A special experience for Caleb all because he picked soccer.
