SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury senior Kailtin Knetzke was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and senior defender Andrea Camargo was selected as the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year as the league announced their annual awards on Thursday night. In addition, seven Drury players were named to the All-Conference team.
Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke was named the Goalkeeper of The Year and First Team All-GLVC. The native of Ozark, Missouri, and Springfield-Catholic product led the GLVC in goals against average (0.38) and shutouts (13). Knetzke’s 13 shutouts are tied for the most in all of NCAA-II. She is the all-time leader in Drury history for career shutouts (42) and goals against average (0.72). This is the second all-conference team nomination of Knetzke’s career, being named Second Team All-GLVC in 2021.
Senior defender Andrea Camargo was named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year, as well as First Team All-GLVC. The Covina, California, native achieved her third straight all-conference team selection, being named All-GLVC Second Team in 2021 and 2022. Camargo was a mainstay in the Panthers backline as she helped lead the team to 13 shutouts and only seven goals conceded. She also was a force on the offensive end, scoring three goals and tallying an assist.
Senior midfielder Kourtney Tucker was also named First Team All-GLVC. The graduate of Central High School in Springfield led the Panthers in goals (5), assists (3), and points (13). Tucker was fourth in the conference in total shots (47) and in game-winning goals (3). This is the second time Tucker has been awarded by the conference, being named All-GLVC last season.
Junior midfielder Tara Simon rounds out the First Team All-GLVC selections for the Panthers. Simon finished third in the conference in total shots (59) and shots on goal (25). The native of Brighton, Michigan scored three goals and tallied an assist, for a total of seven points. Simon was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2021 and All-GLVC Third Team last season for the Panthers.
Senior forward Elsa Gonzalez, was named Third Team All-GLVC, her fourth all-conference team selection of her career. The native of Guadlix de la Sierra, Madrid, Spain, was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year for the 2021 season, the only Panther to ever achieve the award. Gonzalez was voted Second Team All-GLVC last season and has scored 20 goals in her career for Drury. She has scored two goals on twenty shots and has tallied four points in the 2023 season.
Senior Ines Villanueva Casal, was also named Third Team All-GLVC. The midfielder from Santiago de Compostela, Spain was tied for the most games started for the Panthers (18), scored two goals, and served two assists on the season. She was third on the team in total shots (24) and shots on goal (14).
Audrey Camargo, a senior defender from Covina, California, was named Third Team All-GLVC. Camargo was a force for a Panthers defense that only allowed only seven goals on the season and that tallied 13 shutouts. Camargo was able to score two goals on only six shots and tallied two assists on the season.
The Panthers finished the year 12-3-2 and 9-2-2 in the GLVC. They play McKendree in the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament tomorrow at 12 pm.
