Youth will be the theme for Wheaton girls basketball this season.
“We are very young this year so we will be learning and growing in all aspects of the team,” Wheaton head coach Jessica Dermott said. “Jayci Park and Raylyn Buckhannan are sophomores this year and came in and did well as just freshman last season. Bailee Gorman, a junior, always plays hard in every area on the court.”
Six incoming freshmen will look to have an impact as well.
Depth will be a strength for Wheaton with 13 players listed on the roster.

“We will have numbers this year, considering last year was a struggle,” Dermott said. “All of them are similar and work well together, and the bench play will be important.”
Wheaton opens the season Nov. 18-22 at the Verona Tip-Off Classic.
“We will be young so by the end of the season hopefully compared to the beginning of it I want to see a lot of growth,” Dermott said.
