No. 3 Walnut Grove took control early and maintained its advantage throughout on the way to a 45-30 win over No. 6 Morrisville in the semifinals of its home holiday tournament.
The Tigers jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one quarter and 16-11 lead at the half. Walnut Grove extended the advantage to 31-20 after three quarters on the way to the 45-30 win.
Ellie Smith paced Walnut Grove and all scorers with 18 points. Jacie Gavisk was also in double figures for Walnut Grove with 10 points.
Taylor Blehm led Morrisville with 12 points.
Walnut Grove advances to face No. 7 seed Sparta in the semifinals on Tuesday at 7:30 pm in Walnut Grove. Morrisville will play No. 2 seed Marionville in the consolation semifinals at 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
