SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury Lady Panthers forward Reese Schaaf has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball for her performance in two games last week.
Schaaf averaged 24 points, 15.5 rebounds, and shot 61 percent from the field last week as the Lady Panthers went 2-0. She hit 20 of her 33 shots from the field and made 8 of 9 free throw attempts. The sophomore from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, also averaged 2.5 assists and one blocked shot per game.
Schaaf started the week with 19 points and 17 rebounds against Maryville on Thursday. Her 17 boards matched a season-high by any player in the GLVC this season. She followed that by scoring a career-high 29 points and pulling down 14 rebounds on Saturday against Missouri S&T. Schaaf went 12 for 15 from the field in Saturday’s win over the Miners.
The award is the first Player of the Week honor in Schaaf’s career. Last year, she was the GLVC Freshman of the Year and an all-conference selection.
Drury is 11-4 and 6-3 in the GLVC. The Lady Panthers return to action on Thursday at Upper Iowa for a 5 pm game.
