Lebanon sweeps team titles at final Ozark Conference wrestling tournament

The Lebanon boys and girls wrestling teams both claimed the team titles at the final Ozark Conference wrestling tournaments on Saturday in Camdenton.

BOYS RECAP

The Lebanon boys battled Bolivar for the title coming out ahead of the Liberators by 6.5 points with 122 to Bolivar’s 115.5. Kickapoo finished third with 108 points. Waynesville was fourth at 104 points.

The Yellowjackets had champions at four weight classes and placers at two more. Kaleb Branch (106 pounds), Brice Helmig (113 pounds), Canon Roark (132 pounds) and Andrew Bowling (150 pounds) were Lebanon’s four champions.

Cooper Moore (144 pounds) and Mason McCurry (175 pounds) were Bolivar’s two individual champions. Waynesville also had two champions in Lincoln Stearns (120 pounds) and Aiden Smith (157 pounds).

Kickapoo finished third as a team but had the second most individual champions with three including Jahan Huynh (138 pounds), Jonathan Vargas (190 pounds) and Logan Wolf (285 pounds).

Central’s Rylan Lashley (126 pounds), Camdenton’s John Holt (165 pounds) and Glendale’s Deric Washington (215 pounds) rounded out the individual champions.

GIRLS RECAP

The Lebanon girls have been the dominant force in the Ozark Conference since the conference began sponsoring the sport and Saturday was no different. The Yellowjackets scored 260 points to easily outdistance runner-up Waynesville’s output of 184 points. Rolla finished third with 158 points.

Lebanon had six champions and a placer in 13 of the 14 weight classes. The champions for Lebanon were Lillian Cottongim (105 pounds), Jessa Joiner (115 pounds), Baylyn Williams (120 pounds), Halea Bartel (130 pounds), Kalyn Brumley (155 pounds) and Mariyah Brumley (190 pounds).

Both Joiner and Brumley are still unbeaten on the season.

Mckenzie Moffet was Waynesville’s lone champion at 170 pounds, but the Tigers showcased their depth with 14 other placers.

Rolla’s Kiara Sederburg (100 pounds), Vittoria Wiley (125 pounds), Kylie Hawkins (135 pounds) and Serenity Tilford (145 pounds) were the Bulldogs’ four individual champions.

Fourth-place finishing Camdenton had three individual champions led by Abigail Fuglsang at 110 pounds. She currently sports a 38-0 record overall.

Lucinda Baker (140 pounds) and Clara Rathmann (235 pounds) were Camdenton’s other two champions.
