Schaaf named GLVC Player of the Week for second time

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury Lady Panthers forward Reese Schaaf has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball for her performance in two games last week. It marks the second time this season she has won the award.

Schaaf averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds in two games last week as the Lady Panthers went 2-0. The sophomore from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, shot 62 percent from the field, hitting 13 of 21 shots, and she was 84 percent from the free throw line, going 16 for 19. Schaaf had double-doubles in both games last week as she scored 26 points and 14 rebounds in Drury’s win over Quincy on Thursday, then followed with 16 points and 10 boards in a win over Illinois Springfield on Saturday.

She has nine double-doubles this season and six in her last seven games. Schaaf is averaging 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds for the season. She previously won the league’s Player of the Week honor for the week of Jan. 8-14.

Drury has won seven straight games and is 15-4 with a 10-3 record in the GLVC. The Lady Panthers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Southwest Baptist for a 1 pm game in Bolivar.
