Chiefs players show support for young Superfan in time of need

The Chiefs are on the road to a repeat, preparing to battle the 49ers in Sunday’s Super Bowl. And while it’s a busy week, two key players made time in their schedule for a young girl.

Despite their preparation for the season’s biggest stage, two Chiefs players didn’t hesitate to spend a few minutes lending a little support to one special member of Chiefs Kingdom. Justin Reid and George Karlaftis are among the Chiefs’ most important players. But for one day this week, they were among the most important people in Reiss Kaderly’s day.

“Just want to cheer you on, provide some encouragement,” said Reid in the video. “We’re all rooting for you, and appreciate you always supporting the Chiefs and want to come back and support you.”

Reid, along with Karlaftis took some time to send video messages to the Marshfield 12-year-old. Offering encouragement as she battles complications caused by a recent heart surgery.

“Hey this is George Karlaftis,” said the second year defensive end in the video. “I wanted to say I’m praying for you and I’m rooting for you. I wanted to say thank you for being part of Chiefs Kingdom and everybody here at the Super Bowl is on Team Reiss. Go Chiefs.”

Karlaftis says he and his teammates need to support people like Reiss, just the same way she supports the team. “Chiefs fans are so passionate that it just feels like one big family,” he said. “So we all feel for her and feel for whoever is maybe not doing so great. That’s a part of this amazing fanbase. So, I’m all about being able to help people and if that made her day then that makes me super happy.”

Her mom Sara told KY3’s Mark Spillane via text that the videos make Reiss feel like the Chiefs are rooting for her. And Reiss predicts the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl by six points.

Reiss has been battling heart issues since she was born. Reiss and her family are at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston, Texas. You can read more about her strength at the Facebook page named “Amazingly Brave Reiss”.
