All of the higher seeded teams advanced with double-digit wins in the Class 1 District 5 boys basketball tournament on Tuesday.
School of the Ozarks started off the tournament with a 47-37 win over Exeter. Caleb Winder scored a game-high 24 points for the Patriots. Exeter was led by 14 points from Nathan Tackett.
Billings had 11 different players score in a 78-33 win over Everton. Colin Moore (14 points), Chance Shaffer (13 points), Noah Woody (11 points), Kameron Clark (10 points) and Grant Heimer (10 points) all scored in double figures for Billings. Everton’s Joshua Daniels scored a game-high 16 points for Everton.
McAuley Catholic held Hurley to just six first-half points taking a 32-6 lead at the break on the way to a 53-36 win. Bradley Wagner (16 points), Michael Parrigon (10 points) and Rocco Bazzano-Joseph (10 points) led McAuley Catholic. Hurley’s Caysen Youngblood scored 23 points to lead all scorers.
School of the Ozarks faces host and top-seeded Walnut Grove at 6 pm on Thursday in the semifinal round. Billings and McAuley Catholic will play in the second semifinal at 7:30 pm.
