Bakersfield and Norwood will play for the Class 2 District 10 championship on Friday evening after the fourth-seeded Lady Lions upset top seed Hartville and No. 2 seed Norwood rolled by No. 3 Gainesville.
Bakersfield jumped on Hartville early taking a 12-8 lead after one quarter and 24-16 lead at the half. Hartville fought back in the third quarter cutting the deficit to three at 27-24. The Lady Lions put the game away with a 21-11 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Jessie Keith and Rienna Velasquez led the charge for Bakersfield with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Norwood, which finished fourth in Class 2 last year, will play for a second consecutive district title after beating Gainesville 51-21. The two teams were tied at 10 after one quarter before Norwood’s defense stepped up to allow just 11 total points from Gainesville over the final three quarters.
Autumn Gunter led Norwood with 19 points.
Bakersfield and Norwood will face off for the Class 2 District 10 championship at 6 pm on Friday in Mansfield. Norwood beat Bakersfield 54-49 in the regular season matchup on Dec. 7.
