Cabool and Van Buren will play for the Class 2 District 2 championship on Saturday.
Host Cabool built a 28-20 lead on Plato at the half before Plato came out of the break and cut the lead to four heading into the fourth quarter. Cabool closed the game down with a 19-point fourth quarter buoyed by 12 points from Josh Shockley. The Bulldogs won the game 54-47 and Shockley finished with 15 points. Aceton Gozales also scored 15 points for Cabool. Trey Atkins (12 points) also scored in double figures for the balanced Bulldogs.
Cabool will face top-seeded Van Buren who beat Summersville 64-59. Van Buren weathered the storm from Summersville’s Andrew Buschmann who scored 29 points.
Van Buren and Cabool will face off in the Class 2 District 2 title game at 6 pm on Saturday. The two programs met in last season’s district tournament with Van Buren coming out on top 44-32.
