It was a night of upsets in the Class 1 District 4 semifinal round with No. 3 Chadwick and No. 4 Couch both winning over higher seeds.
Couch started out the night with a 36-32 win over top-seeded Eminence. Jobe Sturgeon (14 points) and Hunter Roberts (10 points) led Couch to the upset. The win snapped Couch’s 11-game losing streak to Eminence dating back to Feb. 11, 2014.
In the late game, Chadwick avenged a regular season loss to Niangua with a dominant 58-40 win. The Cardinals jumped on Niangua immediately with a 12-3 advantage after the first quarter and a 26-14 lead at the half. Clayton Garrison scored 30 points to lead the Cardinals to the upset win.
Couch and Chadwick will play in the Class 1 District 4 championship game at 3 pm on Saturday in Bradleyville.
