Thayer and Liberty advance to Class 3 District 10 championship game

The Thayer Bobcats host the Cabool Bulldogs in SCA Conference play, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Thayer High School

It will be an all-SCA final in Class 3 District 10 on Saturday after top two seeds Thayer and Liberty won on Thursday.

Thayer, ranked No. 3 in Class 3, beat Willow Springs 64-40 behind the efforts of Devin Harrington and Aidan Burns. Harrington put up 24 points with Burns right behind him at 23 points. Easton Pitts also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Aiden Stuart led Willow Springs with 12 points.

Terrell Gaines stepped up in a big way for Liberty helping the Eagles beat Licking 59-50. Gaines, who scored 36 in the game, scored 16 of Liberty’s 22 fourth-quarter points. He went eight-for-eight from the free throw line in the deciding quarter.

Liberty and Thayer will play for the Class 3 District 10 championship at 3 pm on Saturday in Houston. Thayer won the regular season matchup 71-43 on Feb. 13.
