Walnut Grove’s defense clamped down in the Class 1 sectional round against Thomas Jefferson. The Lady Tigers allowed just 10 first-half points while scoring 28 to build a 28-10 halftime lead on the way to a 66-25 win.
Jacie Gavisk led all scorers with 23 points. Kelli Albert knocked down five 3-pointers for all of her 15 points. Ellie Smith was just behind her with 13 points.

Walnut Grove (26-3) will travel to face Delta (28-1) in the Class 1 quarterfinal round at 6 p.m. on Friday. Delta is ranked No. 2 in Class 1 while Walnut Grove is ranked No. 4.
