The top three seeds and No. 5 seed Carl Junction all advanced to the semifinal round of the Class 5 District 6 girls basketball tournament.
The host Lady Jays opened the tournament with a 60-30 win over Parkview. Marshfield jumped out to a 21-1 lead after one quarter and rolled from there. Abigail McBride led all scorers with 20 points including six 3-pointers. Marshfield hit 11 3-point shots in the game, which was the exact same amount of two-point field goals for the team.
Carl Junction will be Marshfield’s opponent in the semifinal round after the No. 5 seeded Lady Bulldogs scored right before the buzzer to give Carl Junction a 56-54 upset win over No. 4 seed McDonald County.
Kylie Scott led all scorers with 22 points for Carl Junction.
Marshfield and Carl Junction will face off in the semifinal round at 6:00 pm on Friday in Marshfield.
Allyssa Joyner was unstoppable in No. 2 seed West Plains’ 57-34 win over No. 7 Webb City in the third semifinal game of the night. She scored a game-high 27 points including 11 in the final quarter to help West Plains put the game away. Olivia Lawson scored 16 points for the Lady Zizzers.
Addison Burns led Webb City with 13 points.
No. 3 seed Branson built up a 39-19 lead on No. 6 Hillcrest at the half on the way to a 65-51 win over Branson. Hillcrest outscored the Lady Pirates 32-25 in the second half, but the halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
Taylor Foster led all scorers with 23 points for Branson. She scored 15 of Branson’s 25 second-half points.
Branson and West Plains will play in the semifinal round at 7:30 pm on Friday.
