It will be No. 1 seed Kickapoo facing No. 2 seed Republic in the Class 6 District 5 championship on Monday. Kickapoo beat No. 5 Ozark 49-28 to advance while Republic bested No. 3 Nixa 53-49.
The Lady Chiefs were in control throughout their semifinal win taking a 12-6 lead after one quarter and a 31-13 lead at the half. Kya Johnson led the charge for Kickapoo with 16 points including knocking down four of Kickapoo’s eight 3-pointers in the game. Mikayla Pilley had three of the remaining four 3-pointers on her way to 15 points.
In the late semifinal, Republic beat Nixa for the third time this season in a game that, like the previous two meetings, was close throughout with Republic leading by two after one quarter and one at the half before extending the lead to three after three quarters on the way to the 53-49 win.
Misora Nambara (13 points), Alex Price (13 points) and Molly Blades (10 points) led Republic Nixa was paced by 12 points from both Sadie Conway and Taylor Wood.
Kickapoo and Republic will face off for the Class 6 District 5 championship at 6 pm on Monday at Glendale.
