No. 1 seed, and host, Marshfield will play No. 3 seed Branson in the Class 5 District 6 championship game on Monday night at 6 pm.
Marshfield opened up the semifinal round with a dominant 58-29 win over eight-time defending district champion Carl Junction. The Lady Jays jumped out to a 20-4 lead after one quarter and extended the lead for each of the next two quarters.
Lauren Luebbert led all scorers with 19 points followed closely by Peyton Ward with 18. Abigail McBride also scored in double figures for Marshfield with 13 points.
Branson pulled off an upset of No. 2 West Plains 61-52. Branson carried a 12-9 lead after one quarter and 28-21 lead at half. West Plains chipped the deficit down four points to 40-37 entering the final quarter. A 21-15 fourth-quarter advantage helped Branson secure the win and snap West Plains’ run of four consecutive district titles.
Maci Rogers was on fire for Branson with all of her team-high 18 points coming on 3-pointers. Rogers hit six 3-pointers while the rest of the Branson team had three.
Olivia Lawson paced West Plains with 31 points in the loss.
Marshfield and Branson will play for the Class 5 District 6 championship at 6 pm on Monday at Marshfield. Branson is looking for its first district title since 2017 while Marshfield is seeking its first district title since 2014.
