Dadeville is home to fewer than 250 people. 14 of them will get their shot at the high school’s first state title in any sport. One particular bearcat is leading the way.
“He works so hard,” said Dadeville Head Coach Curtis Collins. “He is talented which helps you know. But he is just a guy every coach wants and I think he is one of the best.”
Collins has nothing but high praise for senior Aidan Jarman, who does not miss a beat.
“I can count on probably one hand the amount of open gyms and practices he hasn’t been at,” Collins said.
“I try to just be a good leader for my teammates,” Aidan said. “If I am missing practices I don’t expect them to not be missing practices, I try to not miss anything.”
And it shows on the court as he averages 20 points per game and leads his team in rebounds, steals, assists, and blocks. Aidan’s coach says he can do more than lead by example.
“Anytime I hear him pulling somebody aside to give them something to say, it’s something I would say as well,” Collins said. “I like what he brings to the table.”
Aidan’s perspective is valued even beyond the basketball court.
“He is just a great guy to have in the community as well and everyone is really proud of him including the whole team,” Collins said.
“We are all best friends,” Aidan said. “It’s a really small community so we all bond really well.”
A small town bond that will be on full display when Aidan and the Bearcats take to Mizzou Arena on Friday.
