RELEASE – After 16 years coaching in Ozark, boys basketball head coach Mark Schweitzer has resigned from his coaching duties.

“I’ve enjoyed watching our kids and representing our town and community on the basketball floor,” Schweitzer said. “There is no better place to be during the winter than watching five guys on a floor working together for a common goal and leaving everything out on the floor for their teammates and community.”

Schweitzer, who spent five seasons as an assistant coach for Ozark, took over the program in 2013. During his tenure with the Tigers, Schweitzer has led the boys varsity basketball team to a record of 190-114 (62.5 percent), a District championship, a COC championship, two Blue and Gold tournament championships and two Republic tournaments championships.

“I commend Coach Schweitzer for his unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to our basketball program over the past 17 years,” Athletic Director Yancey Little said. “His leadership, passion, and commitment have left an indelible mark on our team and community.”

In addition to Schweitzer, assistant coaches Josh Fish and Johnathon Felton are also resigning their coaches duties.

“I am truly grateful for the time I have gotten to spend coaching here at Ozark,” Schweitzer said. “I have built lifelong relationships with players, parents and coaches all while coaching a game I love.”
