Pierce City returns four starters from a 14-win team that celebrated their third straight winning season a year ago. They are just six years removed from back-to-back district titles.

Eagles head coach Ragan Blinzler will rely on senior battery mates Abby O’Hara and Juli Lowe for leadership.

“Abby is able to communicate in a positive manner and shows a high level of belief in each of her teammates,” said Blinzler. “Juli holds her teammates and herself accountable while truly enjoying the game.”

O’Hara anchors the pitching staff and is joined by sophomores Chloe Raley and Savanna Haselwood.

“Each of these girls are working to improve their game and earn their spot on the varsity pitching mound,” Blinzler said.

This will be Lowe’s fourth year as the team’s catcher. In front of her is sophomore Faron Linn at shortstop, junior Macie Crowther at third base, Haselwood at second base, and Raley at first base. Sophomore Mailey Alber heads up a group of several players fighting for time in the outfield.

“In general, our young team has impressed me,” Blinzler said. “They have jumped right into learning their positions and placing effort into becoming the best version of themselves.”

Hannah Madison, Danica Whittenhall, Olivia Whittenhall, Emerie Brown, Gracee Morgan, Cameron Kirch, Alainys, Morris, Marley Gripka, and Emily Hasse will all be in the mix for playing time.

“The biggest strength for our team will be our scrappiness and element of surprise,” Blinzler said. “We had a large group of talented seniors graduate last year-leaving quite a few holes to fill. The girls have shown tenacity so far and their willingness to improve. I believe that this team has a ton of potential to surprise our opponents.”

Pierce City begins their season March 15 at the Joplin Area Tournament Hosted by Purdy.
