STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State jumped ahead 11-1 after three innings Tuesday evening at O’Brate Stadium on the way to handing Missouri State a 13-4 loss.
The Bears (9-10) struck first on a Taeg Gollert solo home run in the second, but the Cowboys (13-8) responded in a big way in the bottom half, opening with back-to-back homers, adding a three-run shot later on and ultimately scoring eight runs for the 8-1 lead.
OSU had two walks, a double and sac fly for three more runs in the third to make it 11-1, and the Bears chipped away to 11-4 over the middle innings, beginning with a Dylan Leach RBI single in the fifth. Caden Bogenpohl led off the sixth with a solo homer, and two more hits followed before Jahlani Rogers scored on a wild pitch.
The Cowboys tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh frames for the final margin.
Missouri State used seven pitchers, with Jake Syverson’s two scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth frames highlighting the bullpen performers. Garrett Ferguson added a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.
Logan Chambers registered a three-hit game for the offense.
The Bears begin Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend with a March 22-24 at defending champion and preseason favorite Indiana State.
