LYNCHBURG, Va. – Caden Bogenpohl became the 46th All-American in Missouri State baseball history Monday when the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) named the outfielder to its Freshman All-America Second Team.
Bogenpohl set Missouri State freshman records for home runs (20) and walks (53) in 2024, breaking the marks held by Ryan Howard and Spencer Nivens, respectively. His home run total currently ranks fourth nationally among freshman, while his walk total ranks second in that group.
The Jackson, Mo., native is the 12th Bear to hit 20 long balls in a season, while his walk total ranked second overall behind only Dylan Becker’s 55 free passes in 2015.
An honorable mention all-Missouri Valley Conference selection, Bogenpohl hit .293 with a .639 slugging percentage and team-high .446 OBP on the year, driving in 45 while scoring a team-best 62 runs. He also had a trio of two-homer games and led off three different games with a home run.
Bogenpohl’s selection gives the Bears four Freshman All-Americans in the last three seasons.
