SPRINGFIELD – The search process for Missouri State’s new director of intercollegiate athletics was outlined Wednesday by Dr. Richard B. Williams who will oversee the proceedings in advance of starting his role as the university’s new president on July 1.
Williams has named Vice President for University Advancement Brent Dunn as the chair of the search committee. Dunn will organize the committee tasked to review potential candidates in the national search. The committee is expected to include university administrators, coaches, student-athletes and community members.
According to Williams, the search process will include public forums with the final candidates. The committee will not utilize a recruiting service in its deliberations, vetting potential candidates to help Williams meet his timeline of naming the university’s new AD in six to eight weeks.
Likewise, Williams has named Senior Associate Director of Athletics Casey Hunt as Interim Director of Athletics. Hunt has been a part of Missouri State Athletics’ leadership team for 21 years and also holds the role of Senior Woman Administrator for the department. Her vast experience in all areas of the department’s daily operations also includes responsibilities as the primary liaison with human resources.
Kyle Moats, who has served as the university’s 11th director of athletics since being named to that position on May 28, 2009, announced earlier this week he is leaving Missouri State after 15 years to assume a similar role at Eastern Kentucky University, starting July 1.
