The Salem Lady Tigers won five games last season and return six players to their roster.
Reagan DuBois, senior setter, earned an SCA conference honorable mention for the ’23 season. Defensive specialist Madison Flores and right side hitter Savannah Nash complete the senior class.
“Reagan Dubois and Madison Flores have stepped into the leadership role,” said head coach DeAnna Atkinson. “They bring a lot of knowledge to the game.”
Juniors Addison Fulton, middle, and Abryanna Hawn, outside hitter, also return, as well as sophomore setter Josie Howard.
Salem also welcomes several promising new players, such as juniors Taylor and Jessie Fulton and Shaylee Thomas.
Several girls played club ball in the offseason, including Addison Fulton, who went to Orlando for the AAU Junior Nationals, and Coach Atkinson said she has seen the improvement in her team.
“This is still a young team, so we are still learning and progressing,” said Atkinson. “We have a lot of juniors coming up from the JV team. This summer, we have been working really hard on teamwork, having confidence, and trusting ourselves and our teammates. This year’s team has a whole new outlook on the game. All the girls have come in with positive attitudes. They are working really well together as a team. We did not have that team atmosphere last year.”
The Lady Tigers will not participate in a jamboree but host their first home game against St. James Sept. 3.
