Central volleyball has a new head coach in April Stapp this season. She takes over a program coming off a two-win campaign in 2023.
Stapp has over 22 years of coaching experience.
“I have seen this program in the past be a powerhouse and really wanted to be a part of building something that could go beyond the court,” Stapp said.
Hedda Werner-Click, Kellyce Brooks, Alana LaBella, Addi Green and Jasmine Green will be key players for Central this season.
“Hedda Werner-Click brings a level of quickness to our defense along with a calm demeanor in high pressure situations. Kellyce Brooks is such an asset being a versatile player and really can do it all. Alana LaBella will be a huge asset to us being such a well-rounded teammate. Her positive attitude and hustle help push our team every time we step on the court. We also will see the Green sisters in action after not playing last season. Addi and Jasmine Green (are) two who really take our team’s energy to the next level along with bringing some pretty strong net play,” Stapp said.
This group have been willing learners and hard workers in the off-season.
“Our biggest strength of this team is the willingness to do what needs to be done,” Stapp said. “Over summer ball these girls showed up no complaining and no dragging. They were so ready to absorb everything we talked about and put it to play. They are dedicated and want growth and are willing to do what it takes to get it. I really admire that about this group.”
Central will host Lebanon, Hollister and Strafford for a jamboree on Aug. 28 at 6 pm. The Bulldogs open the regular season on Aug. 28 at Ozark.
“I have big expectations for this group this year and in the future,” Stapp said. “However, right now our focus is one step at a time staying focused on us and our growth not all happening around us.”
