ST. LOUIS — Missouri State quarterback Jacob Clark (Sr., Rockwall, Texas) has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bears’ victory over visiting Lindenwood on Saturday.

Clark broke the club single-game record for pass completion percentage (.848), going 28-for-33 in MSU’s home opener. He accounted for 302 passing yards, 309 yards of total offense, and passed for two scores. Clark engineered scoring drives on Missouri State’s first three possessions this week to mount his third career 300-yard passing effort.

Likewise, he had streaks of 14- and 11-straight completed passes in the game, the former of which matches the second-most in MSU history and 13th-best in MVFC history.

Clark completed passes to seven different receivers in the victory — the team’s fourth straight in home openers — while leading the offense to 28 first downs and 476 total yards.

Clark was also announced Monday as an honorable mention pick for Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week.

This week’s Valley award is Clark’s second Valley weekly honor. Ironically, he earned MVFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after last year’s home opener against Utah Tech (Sept. 23).

Also recognized by the MVFC this week are: DJ Williams of Southern Illinois (Co-Offensive); Garret Ollendieck of Indiana State (Defensive); Keontez Lewis of Southern Illinois (Newcomer); and Hayden Futch of Illinois State (Special Teams).

Missouri State is back on the road this Saturday for a matchup with UT Martin at 6 p.m. before returning to Robert W. Plaster Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28 to lift the lid on the conference schedule. MSU will host Youngstown State at 2 p.m. on Family Weekend, which is also 417 weekend.

Tickets for the Youngstown State game are available at MissouriStateBears.com or through the Missouri State box office at Great Southern Bank Arena, (417) 836-7678, during regular office hours.
