Three area individuals, one team win state golf titles

The MSHSAA state golf tournaments finished up on Tuesday across the state.

CLASS 3

AT RIVERCUT GOLF COURSE IN SPRINGFIELD

Glendale was dominant in Class 3 sweeping both team and individual honors. The Lady Falcons were led by state champion Page Bowman who shot a two-day total of 142 to beat runner-up, and teammate, Audrey Duvall by six strokes. It is the second consecutive state title for Bowman. Last year Bowman won the championship in Class 4.

As a team, Glendale shot a 671 to beat runner-up Springfield Central by 50 strokes.

Adein Lackey placed 14th for the Falcons with a 167 to give Glendale three all-state finishers. The scoring for Glendale was rounded out by Aden Brown in 76th place. Maylyn Morrissey was Glendale’s No. 5 golfer.

Central claimed the first team trophy in the program’s history led by three top 20 finishes. Camilla Lu placed 13th with a 166. Teammate Phoeby Lin was one stroke back of her in 14th place. Hampton Richards placed 19th with a 169 for Central. The Central scoring was rounded out by Finley Loethen who placed 83rd.

Bolivar’s Delaney Daniels was the area’s only other top 25 finisher in 10th place with a 162.

CLASS 1

AT CROWN POINTE GOLF CLUB IN FARMINGTON

It was all Rylee Allred at the Class 1 state golf tournament. The Ash Grove sophomore shot a two-day total of 151 to win the individual title by five strokes over School of the Ozarks freshman Laylah Bates who posted a 156.

Allred shot a blistering 71 on the first day to establish a lead. Her 80 on Day 2 tied for the low score of the second round.

In the team competition, Greenwood brought home a trophy placing third overall with a two-day total of 788. Eva Heidemann placed 24th with a 194 to pace Greenwood. Anna McQueary, Katy Daugherty, Dylan Lee and Gwyndolyn Gelner rounded out the Greenwood roster.

El Dorado Springs placed sixth as a team led by Sage McCullough in seventh place with a 177.

Purdy’s Rosa Schad (15th – 183), Stockton’s Vanessa Nail (19th – 190) and Carli Burchett (22nd – 193) and Seymour’s Gentry Denney (24th – 194) rounded out the top 25 finishers for the area.

CLASS 2

AT FREMONT HILLS COUNTRY CLUB IN NIXA

Nevada senior Emree Cameron entered the second day of the Class 2 state tournament facing a two-stroke deficit. The University of Louisville commit showed her championship mettle with a blistering two-under 69 to secure her second straight state title and fourth Top 5 finish in her career.

She trailed MICDS sophomore Lisa Zhang by a stroke entering the final nine hole of her high school career. Cameron tied Zhang with a birdie of a 278-yard par 4 to open the back nine. She took the lead for good with a birdie on the 120-yard par 3 12th hole. Cameron played bogey-free golf of the back to secure the three-stroke win.

The Mt. Vernon duo of Madison Phillips (15th – 181) and Emily Schubert (21st – 190) were the next highest finishers from the area.

Logan-Rogersville’s Lily Foster placed 23rd with a 192.

Strafford just missed out on a team trophy placing fifth overall.

CLASS 4

AT DALHOUSIE GOLF CLUB IN CAPE GIRARDEAU

Ozark’s Josey Roberts posted the third-best round of Day 2 at the Class 4 state tournament to take fourth overall with a two-day total of 155.

Springfield Catholic’s Grace Tiedemann paced the Irish with a 10th place finishing total of 160. Ava Tiedemann also posted a top 25 finish for Catholic with a 168 good for 23rd overall.

As a team, Catholic placed sixth overall.
