Ozark volleyball’s quest for the program’s second state championship came up one match short in a 3-0 loss to now three-time defending state champion Lafayette (Wildwood).
Lafayette jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first set before Ozark responded in a big way. The Tigers took that 4-0 deficit and turned it into an 18-12 lead. Ozark maintained that lead to 22-16.

The Lancers showed their championship mettle by closing the match on a 10-2 run to claim the first set 26-24.
Ozark kept things close in the second set trailing 9-11 at one point. Lafayette then threw down a 12-0 run to extend its lead to 23-9 and put the set out of reach on the way to a 25-13 set victory.
Lafayette used an early 6-0 run to take a 2-2 tie to an 8-2 advantage in the third set. Ozark never got closer than three points for the rest of the set with the Lancers taking set three, and the match, 25-12.
Tara Venable led Ozark with 13 kills in the match. Reece Cook had 24 assists. Macy Humble had 13 digs for the Tigers.
Ozark finishes the season with a 38-4 record overall.
