Lockwood girls basketball will have an almost completely new team coming off a 19-win season.
Sophomore Kallie Griffin is the lone returning player from last season’s team. She averaged 3 points per game.
Newcomers this season include: Amaleyia Cerrone (senior), Kimora Roll (junior), Asa Lasater (freshman), Peyton Lasater (freshman), Brynley Ogden (freshman), Leah Ogden (freshman), Hadley Abbiatti (freshman), Abby Baugh (freshman), Molly Hedeman (freshman) and Whitney Sangster (freshman).
“We will be really young and inexperienced but we will have a group that will play hard,” Lockwood head coach Clay Lasater said. “We will have to grow as a team throughout the course of the season as we gain valuable varsity experience.”
Lockwood opens the season Dec. 2-7 at the Diamond Tournament.
“I think our youth and inexperience will make it difficult to win games right off the bat, however, I hope that early on in the season we can compete enough to keep games close and give us chances to learn in close games,” Coach Lasater said. “If we can learn throughout the season how to finish games, maybe we will be able to win some competitive games. Obviously, we all want to be playing our best basketball come district time.”
