Sarcoxie girls basketball returns a pair of honorable mention all-conference players coming off a 14-win season in 2023-24.
That junior duo is Remington Garrison and Jordyn Misner.
“Remington and Jordyn complement each other very well on the court. They both are very explosive on offense and are able to anticipate one another,” Sarcoxie head coach April Ellis said. “My expectations for them are for them to continue to grow on the floor and be leaders for their teammates. My expectation is that they will command the game by their attitude and effort.”
Garrison averaged 12.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 4.3 steals per game last season.
“Remington brings the ability to handle the ball with great poise,” Ellis said. “She doesn’t get rattled with pressure and is able to distribute the basketball well.”
Misner averaged 9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
“Jordyn has incredible knowledge of the game,” Ellis said. “She is able to orchestrate things on both ends of the floor and make great plays.”
Seniors Yuletzie Barrios, Laura Greenstreet and Chloe Graber also return.
Laney Dorris, Bre Shumake, Ariel Wilson and Noemie Ramirez are four more returning juniors.
Dorris averaged 10.4 points per game as a sophomore.
“Laney is an extremely versatile player and is very coachable,” Ellis said. “I look for Laney to show her varsity experience this year on both ends of the floor and be a leader in transition.”
Wilson averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game.
“Ariel has a ton of athletic ability,” Ellis said. “We expect Ariel to really demonstrate her athletic ability in the paint and in transition. Ariel will continue to be a key component in all things we do. Ariel was an all-district player last year. Ariel’s game grew throughout the season, and I expect this to continue.”
Sophomore Lilly Terry rounds out the returning players.
“Our experience will be our biggest strength,” Ellis said. “All of our returning players have had varsity experience since their freshman years. I look for their game experience and knowledge to translate into some late game victories. We have strength in every area of the game through all of our players. We will focus on putting all their strengths together.”
Sarcoxie opens the season on Nov. 22 at home against New Covenant.
