Laquey enters its second season with Brittan Matlock as head coach with a mostly new roster coming off a 14-win season.
“We graduated the majority of our scoring, rebounding, etc.,” Matlock said. “We have some holes to fill. We have several returners from last year and the new ones are eager to learn and want to contribute. As we go into our second season together and continue to learn from each other and adjust to what the season brings, I’m excited about the possibilities.”
The returning players are Addison West (senior forward), Kaelyn Jones (junior guard), Mady Mattheis (senior forward) and Lyiah Thier (sophomore forward). Jones led that group in scoring with 5.9 points per game last season. West had 4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Laquey opens the season Nov. 30 through Dec. 7 at the Frisco League Tournament.
“If our team shows improvement across the board night in and night out, I can’t ask for any more than that,” Matlock said. “Get better each day.”
