Lincoln girls basketball enters Year 3 with Brett Bryant as head coach coming off an eight-win season.
“The 23/24 season was a season of growth for our players,” Bryant said. “Youth and inexperience showed as we lost many close games. I was proud of the girls will to compete, and staying positive throughout the course of the season.”
Bryant identified Alyssa Mellen (senior), Cadence Harvey (junior), Rebekah Helland (junior), Emarie Eckhoff (sophomore) and Lily Mellen (freshman) as likely starters. Seniors Danika Gillespie and Addison Pennell along with junior Addison Monteer will also see varsity action.
“I think our strengths will be athleticism and experience,” Bryant said. “We have multiple players that are in Year 3 of our system, so we should see more understanding of the ins and outs of what we are trying to accomplish. We also have young players coming into the program that are eager to learn and can help us is very specific areas. We hope to compete through toughness and strive to always being the hardest working team on the floor. If we can limit turnovers and second chance points, we will compete.”
Lincoln opens the season Dec. 2-7 at the Warsaw Tournament.
“I am very excited for the 24-25 basketball season,” Bryant said. “We are coming off a summer where we had great participation and the girls really seemed to enjoy getting in the gym. Hopefully all the hard work we put in this summer will translate during the season. The girls and I are motivated to get this program back to its winning ways.”
