Platte County shuts out Webb City 35-0 in Class 5 state quarterfinals

Webb City’s season came to an end with a 35-0 loss to Platte County in the Class 5 state quarterfinals.

The unbeaten Pirates dominated both sides of the ball gaining 416 total yards while holding Webb City to 187 total yards.

Platte County quarterback Rocco Marriott got the scoring going on a 19-yard touchdown run with 5:30 left in the first quarter to make it 7-0 Pirates.

Marriott added his second rushing touchdown at the 8:59 mark of the second quarter, this time from four yards out, to stake the Pirates to a 14-0 lead.

A little over two minutes later, Adam Gisler ran it in from 35 yards out to send Platte County into the break up 21-0.

Gisler hit on another long run, this one from 33 yards out, at the 7:36 mark of the third quarter to put Platte County up 28-0.

Marriott found Tres Bakersville for a 60-yard touchdown pass with 2:43 left in the third quarter for the final score of the game.

Marriott finished with 173 yards passing and 71 yards rushing for three total touchdowns. Gisler took 10 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Webb City’s Jackson Lucas threw for 113 yards on seven completions with Joseph DeGraffenreid hauling in two of those completions for 51 yards. Andrew Elwell carried 10 times for 35 yards to lead Webb City rushing.

Webb City finishes the season with a 6-7 record overall.
