BOYS TEAM
Reeds Spring boys wrestling will field a full lineup this season.
“We have a young team, but we also have several strong senior leaders,” Reeds Spring head coach Parker Jackson said. “One of the strengths is that this will be our first year in a while that we will fill out an entire roster at all 14 spots. We hope to win conference and compete at the district tournament, but our goal, always, is the state tournament, and we have a full team of wrestlers who have bought into that mindset.”
The returning wrestlers include: Brayden Colon (junior, 138), Miles Hodges (junior, 144), Marshall Loftin (junior, 190), Jaydin Princivalli (sophomore, 144), Nathan Coyle (sophomore, 138), Jonathan Emerson (sophomore, 150), Bobbee Carlile (senior, 190), Peyton Hulbert (senior, 215), Justin Bonner (sophomore, 190) and Gabe Miller (sophomore, 165).
“Marshall Loftin and Miles Hodges have put in a lot of off-season work and are looking to qualify for state for the first time. If they can crank up their intensity, they will be a force,” Jackson said. “We have several football players like Coyle, Carlile, Bonner, Hulbert, and Miller who have all bulked up and are ready to wrestle stronger than ever.”
Braydyn Fuller is a freshman who will try to wrestle at 175 and make an immediate varsity impact. He has medaled high several times in USA Wrestling.
“I want a full dual team of 14 wrestlers and our first goal is to win the conference tournament,” Jackson said. “Our second goal is to qualify as many as possible for the state tournament. If wrestlers invest into building this season, we will accomplish both of these goals.”
Reeds Spring will also be wrestling this season in honor of former head coach Chris Lowe, who passed away in August.
“Our team is recovering from the loss of our head coach from last season, Coach Chris Lowe, who passed away in August just before the school year began,” Jackson said. “This season is dedicated to his legacy.”
GIRLS TEAM
Numbers will be up in the Reeds Spring girls program with the roster hitting double digits after having five last season.
State qualifier Blaiklee Cagle returns for her senior season at 170 pounds.
“Blaiklee qualified for state last year and should qualify again this year,” Jackson said. “She has every chance to medal high and possibly even take home a state title.”
Lindsey Keithley (senior, 155) and Skylea Sherer (senior, 115) also return.
“Sky Sherer and Lindsey Keithley have put in a lot of work this off-season,” Jackson said. “They are eager to qualify for state in their senior year and have a serious chance of medaling.”
Juniors Jade Dickerson and Bella Yartz both wrestled a few years ago and return this season. Carley Thacker is a freshman at 135 pounds who comes in with experience.
“We are trying to grow girls wrestling in Stone County and our three seniors will be the ones to leave a lasting legacy,” Jackson said. “We do have some holes in our lineup, but we also have more girls wrestling than ever before.”
