Camdenton girls wrestling returns one of the state’s top wrestlers in senior Abigail Fuglsang.

Fuglsang, who was state runner-up each of her first two seasons, placed third last season.

A state championship a goal for the senior.

“Abby’s been extremely motivated,” Camdenton head coach Ryan Chester said. “She’s been training and competing all off season. She works out in COMO w/ Sammy Henson former Olympic Silver Medalist.”

She is at 110 pounds this season.

Kenliegh Virtue (sophomore), Chloe Gemes (senior), and Selah Segebarth also return for Camdenton. Gemes will be at 115 pounds. Virtue missed much of last season with injuries, but returned in time for districts to win three matches. She will be at 105 pounds. Segebarth returns to the team after taking a year off. She will be at 120 pounds.

Freshman Aubry Miller will look to make an immediate impact at 190 pounds. Sophomore Talya Campbell has some experience. Seniors Daisy Dias and Jeneviev Flynn are both first-time wrestlers as seniors.

“Our strengths are definitely our smaller weights. We’re missing a 100-pounder, but from 105-140 we should be locked and loaded,” Chester said. “Last year we finished the season with two runner-up trophies at various tournaments, this year we are looking for a tournament championship.”
