Wheatland upsets top seed Halfway to win Humansville Tournament

Third-seeded Wheatland pulled off a second consecutive upset beating No. 1 Halfway 45-40 to win the Humansville Tournament title.

The Mules trailed 17-10 after one quarter, but cut that deficit to one point at 20-19 at the half. In the third quarter, Wheatland got the lead with a 12-10 advantage to carry a 31-30 lead into the final quarter. Wheatland closed the game out with a 14-10 fourth-quarter advantage to secure the win and the title.

Nathan and Brayden Sawyer led the Wheatland attack with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Both players along with Andrew Murphy made the all-tournament team.

Halfway was paced by 12 points from Zach Laney and 11 from Shane Gallivan. They both earned all-tournament team honors along with Maddox McCarthy and Isaac Ingram.
