Big second half sends Oak Ridge past Parkview in Bass Pro Tournament of Champions first round

Parkview came out ready to play against Oak Ridge (FL) in the first round of the 2025 Bass Pro Tournament of Champions. The Vikings were hot from three in the first half leading to a tie game at the break. After the break, Oak Ridge heated up to pull away for a 78-62 win.

Oak Ridge and Parkview entered the half tied at 32 thanks in large part to strong shooting from the Vikings.

Parkview was on fire from three in the first half shooting 8-for-16. That included Dassiah Green’s 3-for-4 mark from three and 6-for-10 showing for the field for 15 points in the first half. Conversely, Oak Ridge was just 3-for-14 from three in the first half.

Oak Ridge got most of its first-half offense in the paint outscoring Parkview 20-6. The undersized Vikings held their own on the boards in the first half out-rebounding Oak Ridge 16-14.

In the third quarter, Oak Ridge got going shooting the ball. The Pioneers were 9-for-12 from the field in the quarter including 3-for-7 from three to turn a halftime tie into a 12-point lead at 56-44 after three quarters.

Oak Ridge pressed the advantage even more in the fourth quarter winning the frame 22-18 to take the 78-62 win.

The Pioneers shot 68% from the field and 50% from three in the second half while holding Parkview to 39% from three. The Vikings finished the game 12-for-27 from three.

Oak Ridge was led by Providence commit Jamier Jones with 27 points. Jalen Reece (LSU commit) and Treyvon Maddox (Stephen F. Austin commit) each had 13 points.

Green tied Jones for the game-high in scoring with 27 points.

Oak Ridge advances to face Christ the King in the semifinal round at 9:30 on Friday. Parkview plays Milton (GA) in the consolation semifinals at 6 pm.
