Christ the King beats Milton in overtime to advance to TOC semifinals

Christ the King rallied in the second half to come back and beat Milton (GA) 66-64 in overtime to advance to the semifinal round of the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions.

The first quarter was back-and-forth with the teams changing leads. In the second quarter, Milton got going winning the frame 17-6 to secure a 33-23 lead at the break.

Christ the King came out of the break hot cutting the Milton lead to one at 46-45.

In the fourth quarter, neither team led by more than two points. John Magna scored on a fastbreak with 50 seconds left to tie the game at 58 and send it to overtime.

In overtime, Christ the King took a three-point lead with eight seconds left on a pair of Magna free throws.

Milton got fouled while in the act of shooting a three-pointer on the ensuing possession. The first two free throws were made with the third missing which secured the victory for Christ the King.

In all, the game was tied 10 times with 19 lead changes. Chris the King shot 40% from the field while Milton was at 36%, The teams went a matching 6-for-22 (27%) from three.

Cameron Ziegler led Christ the King with 22 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Magna was just behind him with 19 points. Markell Alston had 15 points for Chris the King.

Josh Dixon (UW-Milwaukee signee) led all scorers with 33 points for Milton in the loss. Daniel Ogunyemi (Yale signee) had 14 points.

Christ the King advances to face the winner of Parkview vs. Oak Ridge in the semifinal round at 9:30 pm on Friday. Milton will face the loser of that game in the consolation semifinal at 6 pm.
