Link Academy is returning to the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions title game two years after winning the tournament thanks to a 53-36 win over the Bullis School in the semifinal round.
The Lions only trailed for 1:24 of the entire game. They were up 12-7 after one quarter and 25-15 after two. The lead only continued to grow in the second half on the way to the 53-36 win.
The Lions outscored Bullis 26-14 in the pain and shot 47% from the field. Defensively, Link Academy held Bullis to just 13-for-39 (33%) shooting from the field and 4-for-19 (21%) from three.
Legend Smiley led Link with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from behind the arc. Chris Cenac Jr. had 11 points and a game-high 8 rebounds. Davion Hannah contributed 11 points.
Eric Reibe, a UCONN signee who didn’t play in the opening round, led Bullis with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Link Academy will face the winner of Oak Ridge (FL) and Christ the King (NY) in the championship game at 9 pm on Saturday. Bullis will face the loser of that game in the third place game at 7 pm.
