Parkview pushed Milton (GA) down to the wire, but a jumper by Grant McDuffie as time expired gave Milton a 48-46 win over Parkview.
Parkview came out hot taking a 15-8 lead after one quarter. Milton responded with a 13-4 advantage in the second quarter to jump in front 21-19 at the half. The Vikings answered back in the third quarter taking a 37-33 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Milton scored the first basket to cut the lead to 37-35. Neither team led by more than one possession the rest of the way.
Milton was dominant on the boards with 40 rebounds to Parkview’s 23. That included 16 offensive rebounds for Milton including three in the final minute. The Eagles took shots with 58 seconds, 54 seconds and 41 seconds left in the game and secured the offensive rebound each time. That set McDuffie up for the game-winner as time expired.
Parkview was able to stay in the game with a strong defensive effort that included forcing 12 turnovers with seven steals. The Vikings also held Milton to just 38.8% shooting (19-for-49) from the field and 29.4% (5-for-17) from three.
Dassiah Green led all scorers with 14 points for Parkview while pulling down seven rebounds. Carlitos Sanchez added in 12 points and four assists.
Nik Braxton led Milton with 13 points and four blocks. Daniel Ogunyemi scored 12 points and ripped down 18 rebounds.
Milton advances to face Millennium (AZ) in the consolation final at 4 pm on Saturday. Parkview will face city rival Central in the seventh place game at 2 pm.
