ST. LOUIS – Missouri State women’s basketball forward Lainie Douglas was named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the third straight week, the league announced today (Feb. 10).

Across wins against Indiana State and Evansville, Douglas averaged 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks per game and shot .682 (15-22) from the field. All of those stats ranked inside the top eight in the conference last week, including league-high marks in field goal percentage (min. 5 FGM/G) and blocks.

In Friday night’s win over Indiana State, Douglas made the most of her first career start. She posted a career-high 20 points (9-13 FG), while matching her career bests in rebounds (9) and blocks (3) versus the Sycamores. On Sunday against Evansville, Douglas poured in 17 more points (6-9 FG) in just 14:18 off the bench. Against the Purple Aces, the Overland Park, Kan., native also had seven rebounds, three blocks and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.

Douglas has six double-figure scoring performances on the season, with five of those coming in the last six games. This marks the third award of the season for Douglas.

Missouri State will travel to Southern Illinois on Thursday, February 13 (6:00 p.m.), before returning to home to host Valparaiso on Sunday, February 16 (2:00 p.m.).
