All four top seeds will play in the Class 1 District 5 tournament semifinals on Wednesday in Walnut Grove.

The host Tigers kicked off the tournament with a 67-50 win over No. 5 seed Golden City. Golden City jumped out to a 16-13 lead after one quarter, but Walnut Grove won every quarter after that including a 23-12 advantage in the fourth quarter. Chance Brown scored 20 points to lead Walnut Grove. Diesl Phillips was just behind him with 18. Sam Vorhis was also in double figures with 12. Spencer Parrill led Golden City with 14.

Walnut Grove will face No. 1 seed McAuley Catholic at 6 pm on Wednesday.

Lockwood was dominant as the No. 2 seed with an 85-46 win over No. 7 Everton. Nik Thieman poured in 24 points to lead all scorers in the win. Sean Contreras (18), Landry Ogden (16) and Reed Parker (13) also scored in double figures for Lockwood. Everton was led by 17 points from Josh Daniels and 15 from Zayn Powers.

Dadeville awaits Lockwood in the semifinal round at 7:30 pm on Wednesday. The Bearcats got 24 from Chayse Coose and 19 from Briar Clift in a 71-63 win over Liberal. Ashton Edwards was also in double figures for Dadeville with 12. Liberal was powered by Ben Dingman’s game-high 26 points.
