McAuley Catholic & Lockwood advance to Class 1 District 5 championship game

Top two seeds McAuley Catholic and Lockwood will face off for the Class 1 District 5 championship on Friday.

McAuley Catholic, the No. 1 seed, trailed host and No. 4 seed Walnut Grove 13-6 after one quarter, but tied the game heading into the half. Walnut Grove took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter, but again the Warriors had a response outscoring the Tigers 15-8 in the final frame to win 38-33.

Michael Parrigon scored 16 points to lead McAuley Catholic. Alex Bohachick scored 12. Walnut Grove was led by 16 points from Chase Brown.

It was the Season Contreras show in Lockwood’s 73-65 win over No. 3 seed Dadeville. Contreras scored 30 points to pace the Tigers. Landry Ogden had 18 and Nik Thieman scored 15 for the Tigers.

Chayse Coose (20 points), Briar Clift (18) and Gavin Orr (15) led Dadeville.

McAuley Catholic and Lockwood will face off for the Class 1 District 5 tournament championship game at 6 pm on Friday in Walnut Grove
