It will be a top five showdown in the Class 2 District 10 championship game on Friday in Mansfield between Class 2 No. 2 Hartville and No. 3 Norwood.
The Pirates beat Mansfield 58-34 in the semifinal round on Wednesday. Norwood was in control throughout taking an 18-8 lead after on quarter. Peyton McDaris lad all scorers with 18 points followed by Cooper Vaughn with 12 points.
Hartville was similarly dominant in a 60-31 win over Bakersfield. Payton Cogdill scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Jackson Ward had 15 and Mason Cogdill 13 for Hartville.
Now it sets up a showdown between the 24-2 Pirates and 21-5 Eagles at 6 pm on Friday in Mansfield.
The two teams played twice this season splitting the matchups with Norwood winning the regular season game 42-36 on Jan. 17 and Hartville taking the Mountain Grove Tournament championship game 63-54 on Feb. 1.
Hartville has won 11 district titles in the past 12 seasons with back-to-back final four appearances including a state championship last season. Norwood last won a district title in 2022 when the Pirates won the Class 2 state championship.
